The Knight Commission has just issued an important report entitled Informing Communities: Sustaining Democracy in the Digital Age. The report is US-focused and is concerned with "improving the information opportunities available to the American people" especially in the digital age.
Today, June 13th 2010 there are massive demonstrations in Cairo and Alexandria in protest for the murder of Khaled Saeed, 28yr, for protesting inspection by undercover security men as he sat at an internet cafe. Over 60 people have been arrested. It has been reported that security forces beat the protesters and dragged them into waiting buses.
