Executive Director Marlyn Tadros attended the International Conference on "The Role of Women in Peace-Building, Reconciliation and Accountability in Iraq”, which was promoted and organized, in Erbil, Kurdistan-Iraq, 27-28 January 2011 by the International Alliance for Justice (IAJ) and No Peace Without Justice (NPWJ), in cooperation with the Foundation for the Future and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, and with support from the Kurdistan Regional Government, the Government of Italy, the Iraqi Council of Representatives, and the Kurdistan Parliament-Iraq. |

I am leaving and there is no return.” Those were the tortured words written in a note by Mohammed Bouazizi, a young Tunisian man, living in the impoverished town of Sidi Bouzid before setting himself on fire. The evident despair of this young, poor and unemployed man from a hitherto unknown little village, in southern Tunisia sparked the Tunisian uprising that lasted two months and eventually led to the ousting of President Ben Ali, on January 14th, 2011. |
